My Top 10 Tips for Natural Beauty

As most of you know I co-hosted a wonderful event called "Naturally Pretty" in Atlanta where we focused on educating women on ways to embrace their natural beauty. This included natural hair care, skin care, nail care, and makeup application. I came up with my top 10 tips for our pamphlet that we created and wanted to share them with those who weren't in town to attend. Enjoy!

1. Drink plenty of water and try adding lemon to clarify skin and help to flush toxins.
2. Always remove makeup before going to bed and wash your pillowcase often.
3. You are what you eat, so eat healthy - Blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, plums, walnuts, whole wheat, salmon, and tuna to name a few. Also try avoiding a lot of fried foods and by all means don't smoke!
4.Beauty sleep. Getting the proper rest helps to alleviate looking tired and puffiness around the eyes.
5. Develop a good skincare regime. Cleanse, exfoliate, moisturize and protect with sunblock.
6. Add a youthful touch with a peach or rosy blush.
7. Eye essentuals. Adding mascara gives any natural look a boost. To accentuate even further, try a dark brown or black liner as well.
8. To achieve a pretty pout, be sure to stay hydrated and try a lip colorthat compliments your cheek color. Also it helps to use lip products with vitamin e and even green tea extract.
9. If you don't want a full coverage face, try using a mineral powder or a tinted moisturizer paired with a foundation primer as your base.
10. A good highlighting powder or cream gives off an instant glow when applied above your cheeks.

Winterproof Lips

If you are like me, in the winter I ALWAYS keep lipgloss in my purse. Well to be honest that's probably year round. But I especially keep my lips hydrated and protected so I don't get the case of "THE PEELS". In the past my lips have peeled for the worst during the winter months! So here are some tips to prevent this from happening:

1) never apply or reapply lipstick over peeling lips. This just makes it worse.

2) Try an exfoliant. I love Smashbox lip exfoliant and i keep it in my makeup kit.

3) Try a lip balm or gloss with vitamin E.

4) If you wear lipstick, make sure it has moisture and does not dry out your lips.

5) Water is your friend! A sign of dehydration is chapped lips, so drink up!

Glamour All The Way: 5 Holiday Makeup Tips

With the holiday season in full effect, here are a few beauty tips to liven up your look:
Shimmer all the way:
Stunning eyes always draws a crowd. Try adding a pure metallic pigment to the eyes for a vibrant shimmer. Don't go overboard with the shimmer though. Adding a small amount above the iris or even in just the inner corner of the eye is a big hit.

Illumination:Who wants dry/dull looking skin in the winter?! Make sure to hydrate your skin with a good moisturizer. You may also want to try a cream with an iridescent hue, like MAC Strobe cream, on your cheeks and below your eyes to give you a healthy glow.

Play it Up:
This season is still in late 80s/early 90s mode. Don't be afraid to play up the eyes or lips. Opt for either a dramatic eye or bold lip this season. For smokey eyes try one of these shades: forest green, bronze, navy, grey. or plum. For bold lips try a shade of red, reddish-brown, bronze, or deep magenta. Also a quick tip for lips, use a product that doesn't dry out your lips. You want one that adds moisture.

Lashing Through the Snow:
Thick, full lashes will definitely make a statement at your holiday party. Try a mascara, like L'Oreal's Luminous Mascara in Carbon Black, that will add volume and length. For even more drama try throwing on a pair of false lashes.

Brows and Bells:
Don't neglect them, embrace them! Structured brows are here to stay so please make your appointment with you brow specialist! I guarantee it will make a difference.

Enjoy your holiday gatherings!

Juicy Couture Indeed!

Yes I have full lips and well...the matte lip doesn't always seem to compliment them unless a lipliner is used with great blending technique. I've always embraced my soup coolers and I'm a lipgloss kind of girl on most days! This Spring/Summer is definitely a great time to let those lips shine! Here are a few lip products/shades that I love to give you that "Juicy" look!

MAC Plushglass in "Fulfilled" or "Nice Buzz". I love wearing these alone or over a muted shade of lipstick to give it a pop!

Smashbox Reflection High Shine Lip Gloss. This works so great over a nice lipstick shade! Try over a hot pink or a nice red for the season!

Just Peachy

It's summer time and I have always loved the look of a warm, sun-kissed face. And how can you achieve this look outside of your favorite bronzer? Try a blush with in a shade of peach. A peachy shade of blush works on just about every skin tone. For fair skin try a lighter/pale shade and for olive/darker skin try a deeper/coral shade.
