Product Review: KIM Brushes

An artist has to have the right tools to perfect their canvas, right?! Well I found out about a new makeup brush line that I really like called KIM Brushes

Kim Brushes is the new makeup brush line from the storied fine art brushmaker Rekab. They produce high quality brushes sold individually as well as in covenient brush sets! The brushes are made with both natural and synthetics fibers. Best of all, the prices are reasonable! I've gotten my hands on a few of my brush faves and tested them out: small angled brush, foundation brush, and lip brush. Here's my take on them:

The small angle brush (131): This is one of my top picks for brushes because I rely on this brush for perfecting eyebrows and for liquid and cream eyeliner application. I really like this one produced by kim because of the long professional handle, and it produces a precise fine line. $10.00

foundation brush (F231): This was was really nice because it wasn't too thick and as you reach the tip the brush hairs get thinner, which allows for smoother application. It was really soft as well! $22.00

lip brush (311): The lip brushes actually come in 3 sizes and I have the larger of the 3, but I was able to do create perfect red lip using this brush. I like that its flat and not oversized, though opting to use the 312 will help to get an even more exact application. $9.00

Overall, I really think these brushes are a great value for the price and are brushes I'm keeping in my kit. Try them out for yourself! Perhaps you'll be seeing more of KIM Brushes with me...stay tuned! :)

True You Cosmetics: Iconic Lip Collection

I got the chance to try out a new lip product by emerging cosmetic line True You Cosmetics this past week. I love the concept behind the Iconic Lip Collection, which is inspiration behind classic Hollywood beauties like Dorothy Dandridge, Josephine Baker, Ava Gardner, and Lena Horne. I liked the cremy texture as it kept my lips moisturized while giving off a pop of color. I liked the color palettes as well as they are very convenient. You can find these products in Sears as well as their site, www.trueyoucosmetics.net. Check it out as they have a 15% off promo on their site!

Makeup for Photography

Had a very long and eventful weekend, but no complaints because I'm doing what I love :) I had my first makeup classes this week and they went so well! During my saturday class I thought it would be great to take a before and after photo. What's even better is my lovely friend/photographer Laretta Houston so graciously took a photo for me and edited it. So looking at these photos you can get the beginning to end footage of makeup through the stages of photography! Stay tune for my Makeup for Photography class during Laretta's photography workshop starting in Atlanta and then Dallas!

Also I have to mention a product I love! that I used on my model. I compare it to MAC's Prep + Prime Refined Zone, but it's at your local drug store so cheaper! L'Oreal's Studio Secret Face Primer. I used it on this model and you can see the shine that was eliminated.

Juicy Couture Indeed!

Yes I have full lips and well...the matte lip doesn't always seem to compliment them unless a lipliner is used with great blending technique. I've always embraced my soup coolers and I'm a lipgloss kind of girl on most days! This Spring/Summer is definitely a great time to let those lips shine! Here are a few lip products/shades that I love to give you that "Juicy" look!

MAC Plushglass in "Fulfilled" or "Nice Buzz". I love wearing these alone or over a muted shade of lipstick to give it a pop!

Smashbox Reflection High Shine Lip Gloss. This works so great over a nice lipstick shade! Try over a hot pink or a nice red for the season!
