Beautiful and Bald Barbie!

I believe that this doll is long overdue, but I love that it is finally being done by Mattel. There are many young girls fighting with cancer and this is a great doll to help with addressing the issue of hair. Like India Arie's song "I Am Not My Hair", this doll shows the beauty of a girl or woman despite having long, flowing hair.

The power of social media is so strong! This doll came to Mattel's attention through a Facebook campaign with over 150,000 likes. Mattel will now produce and distribute the dolls exclusively to children’s hospitals and other hospitals treating children with cancer throughout the U.S. and Canada, directly reaching girls who are most affected by hair loss.

Barbie is not the first though! Moxie Girlz and Bratz have already jumped onboard with the concept, manufactured by MGA entititled "True Hope Dolls" and hit stores June 2012.

My Photoshoot with B Scott

photo by Laretta Houston, makeup by MiMi J, hair by Zara Green, Styling by Demetrius Williams, headpiece by Avnah Couture

Last month I worked with a very popular blogger, B Scott while he made a stop in Atlanta. I had a great experience doing his makeup! The photos actually were published in an Atlanta magazine called Fenuxe and he's using one of them for his new single "Body Rock". Check out the photos and interview below!

My Cover Shot With DAY 26

Towards the end of last year I received a call from the editor of Snytch Magazine asking me to do the grooming of a guy R&B group, though at first he didn't disclose the name. I agreed and pulled in my photographer friend Laretta Houston to make it happen at the lab. To my surprise the group was MTV's Making the Band group DAY 26! Man did I have a wonderful time working with them. They are really a great group of guys and what you are seeing on reality with their personalities is real life :) Check out the cover of the guys and some behind the scene shots! More photos will be published in the Spring Issue of Snytch so be sure to look out for it. And yes, I had to get a photo with Willie, though Brian made me laugh the entire time and jumped in a few :)
